Courage to Stand No Matter What

It's important to understand values and why they're necessary. Many of our values are far too malleable—even for the modern Christian. We pick through the Bible choosing some truths and tossing others as if God's Word is some sort of spiritual smorgasbord. His Word is His. We need to get in line with it, not the other way around. This is crucial in that we live in a time where active ostracism, even hatred against the Christian is not only acceptable, but fostered by dominant members of our culture.

Christianity is the only religion left that is okay to condemn. Perhaps never before has the virtue of courage been so needed. It's awful lonely out there standing alone fighting for the right thing. C.S. Lewis said, "Courage is not simply one of the virtues, but the form of every virtue at the testing point."

Christians are publicly shamed, hated (always by those condemning "haters" I notice), put down, torn down, mocked, ridiculed, and insulted by modern media, politicians, and the majority of anyone having anything to do with the film industry. And we suffer these slings and arrows on a daily basis. If you doubt that, google Christians and news and see what you find.

It's more important than ever to hold the standard of Jesus Christ high, yet it seems that far too many of us are selling out, adopting lives of invisibility in an attempt to stay in relationship with Christ and the world. It can't be done. One or the other will have to go at some point. Too many choose to go back to the world and leave Jesus.

Be forewarned, your allegiance to Christ will be tested...repeatedly...until you die.

Because we not only serve a mighty God, we serve a loving one, we've got a manual on daily living. How gracious for Him to give us the Book! The Bible's also our main source of encouragement. Be strong and of good courage. Like Elijah, you're not alone. It may feel like it sometimes, but God always has a remnant of faithful followers. We're out there in the trenches with you. We're out there holding the standard and not giving one single inch of territory to Satan. We're fighters, tried, tested, and faithful to the one true God.

Don’t think that if you’re afraid, you don’t have courage. Mark Twain said it best: “Courage is the resistance of fear, the mastery of fear, not the absence of fear.”
